Privacy policy
Most of what you put into Centline never leaves your phone. This page says exactly what does, when it does, who can see it, and how to take it back.
The short version
- Your loads, invoices, documents and business details are kept on your phone.
- Something reaches our server only when you do something that sends it: sharing your record, sending a load link, turning on Being findable, verifying your authority, or connecting with someone.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking, no crash reporting. We do not sell or rent your information, and we never will.
- You can delete your account from inside the app at any time.
Who we are
Centline is a mobile app and this website, based in Iowa, USA ("Centline", "we", "us"). For any question about this policy or your information, write to support@centline.co.
What stays on your phone
The loads you run, your invoices, the business details and carrier record you enter, the documents and photos you attach, and your settings are stored on your phone. We do not receive them.
A backup you make in the app is a file you save yourself. It is not sent to us. On iPhone, the app's data can be included in your own iCloud or computer backups, which Apple handles under its own terms. On Android, the app opts out of automatic backup.
When you use Send update or copy an invoice, the text goes to whichever app you pick, such as Messages or email. It does not pass through our server.
Your account
To make an account we need your email address and a password. Our sign-in provider keeps the password only in scrambled, hashed form, so nobody can read it back, including us.
If you sign in with Google, Google gives our sign-in provider your email address and the name and picture on your Google account. Sign in with Apple works the same way when it is available, and Apple lets you hide your real email address.
We use your email address to run your account: confirmation codes, sign-in links and password resets. We do not use it for advertising.
What leaves your phone, and only when you do it
- Sharing your record
-
When you share your record, a copy is stored on our server so the link works. The page shows what is on your record: your legal and trade name, DOT and MC numbers, authority dates, power units and drivers, street address, phone and email, equipment, insurance details (insurer, policy number, limits and expiry), your inspection entries, and the documents you choose to include.
Anyone who has the link can open that page until the link expires, after the 7, 30 or 90 days you choose, or until you revoke it. Documents open through addresses that stop working an hour after the page is opened. Your own notes and the declines you have recorded never leave your phone. Taking the record down deletes it and its files from our server.
- Sending a load link
-
A load link shows the lane, the stage, the pickup and delivery dates, whether the bill of lading is signed, and who the link is for. It never shows money. It expires after 30 days, and you can revoke it sooner.
- Being findable
-
When you turn on Being findable, other signed-in Centline users whose identity is verified can find you by searching. They see the legal name FMCSA has for your company, your MC and DOT numbers, whether you are a carrier, broker or company, your authority status and when it was checked, and, if you have shared your record, your equipment and your home city and state. Turning it off removes the listing.
- Verifying your authority
-
When you verify, our server looks up the DOT or MC number you typed in FMCSA's public carrier database and emails a code to the address FMCSA has on file for that carrier. We keep what you typed, what FMCSA returns (legal name, numbers, authority status) and when we checked. The code is stored only in hashed form. We do not keep the email address FMCSA gave us.
- Connections
-
When you ask to connect with someone, accept a request, or change what a connection can see, we store the connection and, for each side, which parts of the record and which documents the other may see. You choose those item by item, and you can revoke a connection at any time.
Who handles it for us
These companies run parts of Centline for us, under their own privacy terms, and get only what their job needs:
- A hosting provider runs our database, sign-in and file storage.
- An email provider delivers account emails and verification codes.
- A web host serves this website and forwards shared record and load links.
- Google and Apple, if you choose to sign in with them.
- FMCSA, the federal agency, receives the DOT or MC number you ask us to check.
We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not use it for advertising. We would give it to anyone else only if the law required us to.
What we never do
- No advertising, and no advertising or tracking code in the app.
- No analytics and no crash reporting.
- No cookies on this website, which loads nothing from anybody else.
- Our own code keeps no record of who opens a shared link. The companies that host the website and the server keep routine technical logs, such as IP addresses, for security and reliability, under their own terms.
Your phone's camera and photos
On iPhone, the app asks to use the camera so you can photograph a bill of lading, a rate confirmation or a receipt, and to use your photos so you can attach one you have already taken. A photo stays on your phone unless you choose to share it.
How long we keep it
What is on our server stays while your account exists, unless you remove it sooner. Links end when they expire or when you revoke them. Taking your record down deletes it and its files. Turning off Being findable removes your listing, and revoking a connection ends it.
Deleting your account removes everything on our server that belongs to it. Copies in our providers' routine backups are removed on their normal schedule.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Profile › Your account › Delete my account and tap again to confirm. On our server, that deletes your account, your shared record and its files, your links, your directory listing, your connections, your shared loads and your verification record.
It does not reach what is on your phone; deleting the app removes that. It also cannot recall emails already delivered, text you have already sent, or files someone else has already downloaded.
If you cannot use the app, ask us to delete your account.
Age
Centline is a business tool for adults. You must be 18 or older to make an account, or older if the law where you live requires it. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe someone under 18 has made an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Your choices
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it. Write to support@centline.co from the address on your account, and we will answer within 30 days. You can change most of it yourself: your record lives on your phone, and sharing it again replaces the copy on our server.
If Centline changes hands, or this policy changes
If Centline or its business is ever sold or merged, your information would go with it, and this policy would still apply to it. If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and change the date at the top. If a change affects what leaves your phone, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
